The Tappas Party Appetizer

We were asked to bring a cheese platter for a tappas party yesterday. Eldon made the crackers, and a feta dip and arranged the platter like this. He bought the platter in Mexico on one of his many trips there this past year. Featured on this platter was Manchengo cheese, grapes, pears, smoked gouda, boursin cheese, marcona almonds and his crackers which were very thin, crispy, and covered in salt, pepper, and parmesan cheese. On another platter he did a warm brie with honey. This was the appetizer and so delicious.

The House- Claire's Room

If there is anything that looks nice in our home, it is because of Eldon's vision. He just knows where to put things and what goes together. It has been really fun working together on these projects. When Claire was about to be born, we needed to turn the yellow boys room into a girls room. We had to compromise his vision due to cost, but in the end, it looks really pretty. Anyone can paint a room a color and throw a crib in it. It's the little touches that he ads like the curtains, rug, her name in Vinyl letters etc. that make it so much more. With every baby, he gives me an arrangement of flowers. The ones in this picture are what I came home to with Claire.

Family Gatherings - Claire's Blessing Day

Eldon is always doing really fun things for our family and friends. You will see many parties we have done on this blog. This is the food from Claire's blessing day. We shared the day with his parents, my parents, my sister and her family, and my Uncle Bob and his family. It was a great day and Eldon made everyone so happy with the food. His mom made the cake. He served his Szechwan noodles, Chicken Satay, Spinach salad, Shrimp, Tomato Feta Salad, White Chocolate Dipped Strawberries, and Lemon Cake with curd and raspberries. We were fortunate when we got married because we got 12 crystal bowls of varying styles and sizes. Most people would take them back, but I have to say we have used every single one at various times and they always look so pretty.

Fun with Cake

Eldon and I always look forward to the kid's birthdays where we create fun cakes. This was for Max's 6th birthday. We used a chocolate cake from Costco and asked them for the orange frosting in a tube. We then took a glass vase and covered it in a rice krispie treat mixture to make it have the volcano look. We took the left over rice krispie treats to make rocks. We then painted each with melted chocolate and let it all harden. After it was all dry, we placed the pieces on the cake and then piped in the orange "lava" where necessary. We used Oreos for the flying discs and glued Anakin and Obi Wan onto the Oreos with more chocolate. We used dry ice in the glass inside the volcano to make it erupt. The candles gave it the right lighting.

The First of Many

Over the past ten years, I have been able to sit back and watch my husband grow in his creativity. He is fairly famous now in our different circles of friends and everyone can't wait to be invited to one of his parties. We aren't in a position to quit our day jobs and start something on our own, but I think a portfolio like this blog will be good for his future.
